Sanaullah urges similar national resolve for economy as in military crisis

ISLAMABAD – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that the spirit of national unity recently witnessed during military tensions with India could catalyse transformative progress on domestic issues, particularly the economy. Speaking at a current affairs show, Red Line with Talat Hussain, Sanaullah emphasised that Pakistan’s collective resolve during conflict demonstrated its potential for rapid development. “If the nation continues to move forward together like this, what could not be achieved in 76 years can be accomplished in just two,” he said.

He credited the recent military success with elevating Pakistan’s international standing. “Our win has raised Pakistan’s prestige. Today, our passport commands respect, and friendly countries are expressing happiness over Pakistan’s strength,” he claimed. Sanaullah highlighted the national response to the Pahalgam incident as a turning point, suggesting that the unity displayed had bolstered confidence among Pakistan’s international partners. “The unity of the people and institutions will change this country’s trajectory,” he asserted.

However, he questioned why similar unity was lacking in efforts to address economic challenges. “If we can come together in times of war, why not for the economy?” he asked. He noted that the government has been working on a “charter of economy” for over a year and has begun to see positive results. The adviser said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is actively addressing critical national issues, including water resource management, and has instructed engagement with opposition parties, including the PTI. “The prime minister even directed us to talk with the PTI. If they refuse to sit at the table, the nation is watching,” he warned.

On regional security, Sanaullah accused India of being directly involved in terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. “As long as India continues its terror activities, there will be consequences,” he said, adding that Pakistan is conducting intelligence-based operations to dismantle terrorist networks. Sanaullah concluded by emphasising the need for a national consensus and coordinated action to address both economic challenges and security threats.
