PESHAWAR: Awami National Party leader and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Education Minister Sardar Hussain Babak has called for greater transparency in the provincial budget process. He insists that if the budget is truly meant for public welfare, the government must hold open consultations and share budget details with citizens *before* finalization.
Speaking on the *Pakhtun Digital Podcast*, Babak highlighted the stalled National Finance Commission (NFC) Award – critical for provincial funding – which hasn’t been renewed since 2010. He criticized the provincial government’s silence on this “important national issue,” urging action before the budget announcement.
Babak also raised alarms about education failures, noting that June has begun without textbooks reaching students in government schools. “This negligence proves education isn’t a government priority,” he stated, calling the delay “unforgivable cruelty toward future generations.”
