Schedule for special trains on Eid ul-Fitr announced

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced the schedule for special trains to facilitate passengers travelling before and after Eid ul-Fitr.

According to the Pakistan Railway, five special trains will be run on several routes of the country on Eid with the aim to meet increased travel demand.

Special trains will offer various classes, including economy, AC business, and AC standard, to accommodate different passenger needs.

To ensure smooth operations, Railway authorities have sent detailed guidelines to all divisional officers and instructed to ensure the implementation of these guidelines.

Moreover, the federal government announced public holidays for Eid ul-Fitr from March 31 to April 2. A notification from the Cabinet Secretariat confirmed that the prime minister has designated these dates as public holidays for the Eid celebrations.

Earlier on Wednesday, the federal government declared a three-day public holiday for Eid ul Fitr, starting on March 31 and ending on April 2. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan for Muslims worldwide.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the final date for Eid-ul-Fitr will be determined based on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, along with zonal committees, will meet on March 30 (Sunday) evening to make an official announcement.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a high chance of the Shawwal moon being sighted on March 30, making March 31 the likely date for Eid celebrations.

The federal government has announced the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on Wednesday.

As per the notification issued by the cabinet division, the holidays will be from March 31 to April 2.

According to the Meteorological Department’s focal person Anjum Nazir, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will be held on March 30, when the moon will be 27 hours old and can be easily seen.
