Secret feature: How to restore deleted Messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp introduces new feature to protect users

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, constantly introduces features to improve user experience. One such handy feature, launched in late 2022, acts as a quick “undo” button for a common mistake.

Sometimes, a user may accidentally delete a message just for themselves using the “Delete for me” option instead of the “Delete for everyone” feature. For these moments, WhatsApp provides a brief safety net.

Immediately after deleting a message, a notification will pop up at the bottom of the screen saying “Message deleted for me” alongside an “Undo” button. Tapping “Undo” will immediately restore the message to the chat. However, users must act quickly, as this option disappears after only a few seconds.

In a separate tip for easier messaging, the article highlights how to send messages hands-free using Google Assistant on Android phones. Users can press and hold the home button or say “Hey Google,” then command: “Send a WhatsApp message to [contact name].” After speaking the message clearly without long pauses, the assistant will send it. Similarly, saying “Send a WhatsApp audio message to [contact name]” will send the spoken words as an audio clip.

These features are designed to make communication faster and help users easily correct simple errors.
