PESHAWAR: Following the drowning of 18 tourists in floodwaters in Swat Valley, the provincial government has ordered the closure of all hotels, restaurants, and businesses near the Swat River to prevent further loss of life and property during monsoon rains.
Officials confirmed that Section 144 has been enforced, banning recreational activities in rivers and streams across the province. The local administration has also started an awareness campaign to discourage tourists and residents from entering riverbeds.
Warnings are being issued through media, social media, and public announcements, urging people to stay away from rivers during the monsoon season. The administration has appealed to tourists and locals to follow safety guidelines and take precautions to avoid accidents.
