Section 144 was imposed in North Waziristan for one month

Security Alert: Daylong Curfew in South & North Waziristan

NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Local authorities have enforced Section 144 across North Waziristan for one month due to growing security concerns. A formal notification was issued by the Deputy Commissioner, outlining strict restrictions to maintain public order.

As per the order, motorcycle pillion riding, gatherings of more than two people in public places, and the entry of non-custom-paid vehicles into the district are now prohibited. Officials say the move is a preventive step to avoid any potential unrest or untoward incidents.

Additionally, a complete curfew will be in place tomorrow (Tuesday) from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., during which all entry and exit routes, as well as major roads, will be closed. Public movement will be entirely restricted throughout the curfew period. Authorities stated the curfew aims to facilitate secure movement and logistical operations of security forces, which are currently a top priority. District administration has urged citizens to fully cooperate with law enforcement and follow all guidelines to help maintain peace and stability in the region.

In recent months, the region has seen a resurgence in security threats, including attacks on law enforcement and military convoys. Intelligence reports have pointed to increased militant movement and the smuggling of arms and non-custom-paid vehicles, prompting heightened vigilance.

Authorities say the imposition of Section 144 and curfews is a preventive measure aimed at stabilising the situation, supporting security operations, and ensuring civilian safety amid fears of renewed unrest.
