Security officer suspended for harassing female student at Women’s University Mardan

MARDAN: Women’s University Mardan has suspended a security officer at Bakhshali Campus for allegedly harassing a female student.

As per details, a student at the Women’s University Bakhshali Campus has accused a security officer of harassment. In response, the university administration suspended the officer and formed an inquiry committee for investigate the allegations.

“Reference is made to the allegations of harassment made by a student against you. In pursuance of these allegations and in order to ensure a fair and impartial inquiry, I am hereby directed to place you under suspension with immediate effect,” read the suspension order addressing Shah Faisal, the security office.

The university administration said that the security office shall be suspended until the completion of the inquiry.

The administration has assured strict action based on the committee’s findings.

Following the incident, students staged a protest and boycotted classes. They chanted slogans demanding justice and protection. The protesters called for a transparent investigation.

The university has also constituted a Harassment Committee under the Higher Education Commission’s guidelines. The committee includes Assistant Registrar Pir Shekeel and PS to the Vice Chancellor Sajida Karim as focal persons.

Deputy Registrar Adnan Ahmad, Additional Director Admissions Dr. Nadia Sharif, and the concerned department’s head will serve as inquiry committee members.

Deputy Director P&D Adnan Masood, Assistant Professor Dr. Haleema Akbar, and Lecturer Ms. Farah Aqil will act as appellate body and may be considered appeal and any other relevant material.

The committee is responsible for taking immediate measures to assist the affected student. It will investigate the allegations and recommend action against the accused. The appellate body will review any appeals and issue a final decision within 30 days.

Meanwhile, the students demanded a fair probe and strict action against those found guilty.
