SWAT: Several members of a family were hospitalised after they ate poisonous food in the Nawagai area of Swat district here on Thursday. Police arrested the suspect who allegedly mixed poisonous substances in the food prepared for the Iftar.
According to police, a heartbreaking incident took place during Iftar in the Nawagai area of Barikot tehsil of Swat. A person allegedly mixed poisonous substances in the food which were prepared for the Iftar at home. As a result, the condition of several members of the same family deteriorated.
Police said the affected people were initially shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Barikot, from where they were taken to Saidu Teaching Hospital’s emergency in Mingora after their condition worsened.
According to the police, Sabah Sen, a resident of Sar Dheri Alpuri, district Shangla, was accused by the family of allegedly mixing a poisonous substance in the food.

The victims include Sher Bacha’s daughters, eight-year-old Laiba and six-year-old Habiba; five-year-old Muhammad Baa son of Sher Bacha, five-year-old Arshad and Abdul Qadir sons of Khan Bahadur, and Usman Baa son of Rehmatullah.
Police said they had lodged an FIR against the suspect and apprehended him.
