LAHORE: Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has addressed rumors of discord within the national cricket team, emphasizing that team matters should stay within the group.
Speaking to the media, Afridi dismissed outside speculation about a lack of unity. “We hear from outside that there is no unity in the team,” he said. “Small things happen at home too, team matters should remain within the team.”
Looking ahead to upcoming tournaments, Afridi stated that the Tri-Nation series in New Zealand is a crucial preparation step for the Asia Cup. He noted that no opponent in T20 cricket is easy but expressed confidence in the team’s young players, who he said play “without fear.”
He also defended the performances of openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, stating they have “performed a lot for Pakistan” and will continue to do so, while also advocating for young players to be given opportunities.
