ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader Sheikh Waqas Akram stated on saturday that the party remains committed to constitutional and legal means in its political struggle, while also emphasizing the need for the federal government to release Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) rightful funds.
Speaking to a private news channel, Akram clarified that while minor differences exist within the party, reports of major rifts were exaggerated. “We are operating within the bounds of law and constitution. Negotiations regarding Pakistan’s future can be held with anyone,” he said.
He also dismissed allegations linking PTI to certain controversial accounts, stating, “The accounts repeatedly mentioned have no connection to us.”

Akram warned that any violation of party discipline would not be tolerated, and show-cause notices would be issued to those disregarding party directives. “There will be no compromise on discipline,” he asserted.
Highlighting KP’s financial stability, Akram claimed it was the only province with a cash surplus. However, he accused the federal government of withholding billions in dues, which he argued were critical for strengthening the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
“The federal government must release KP’s funds to enhance CTD operations. The facilities available to CTD in KP are unmatched in other provinces,” he said.
