ISLAMABAD: Former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat stated he would not plead to rejoin the party after being expelled multiple times. He said his self-respect was repeatedly undermined but still wishes to meet Imran Khan to discuss the “injustices” against him.

Marwat, an MNA, claimed the current PTI leadership lacks a clear plan to secure Imran Khan’s release from jail. Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 on various charges following his removal as prime minister in 2022.

In February, PTI founder Imran Khan ordered Marwat’s immediate expulsion for violating party discipline. Senior leaders, including Omar Ayub Khan and Shibli Faraz, complained about his behavior at a Swabi rally.

During a PTI protest rally in Swabi, Marwat was initially barred from speaking but later addressed the crowd after KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur called him on stage. He made cryptic remarks about “bad people” being helpful in tough times.

Following Khan’s orders, PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi issued a notification confirming Marwat’s expulsion, citing his failure to comply with party discipline despite a show-cause notice.

Marwat said it no longer matters whether PTI allows him back, expressing disappointment over his repeated expulsions. He remains critical of the party’s current direction but still seeks a meeting with Khan.
