Sherpao slams move to transfer FC HQ from Peshawar to Islamabad

PESHAWAR: Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, has strongly opposed the proposed relocation of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters from Peshawar to Islamabad.

In a statement issued from Watan Kor, Sherpao stressed the historic significance and operational effectiveness of the FC headquarters in Peshawar.

He said that it is strange when the province is once again facing a surge in terrorism, such a move is both untimely and unacceptable.

Sherpao warned that the relocation would lead to additional financial burden on the already resource-constrained province and further destabilize its fragile law and order situation.

Sherpao also expressed concern over the loss of local employment, noting that the FC has traditionally recruited personnel from merged districts and various ethnic backgrounds, who are familiar with local dynamics and terrain.
