Sisters in Squash: Pakistani trio makes semi final history in Australia

 

MELBOURNE: Pakistan showcased its squash talent in Melbourne as sisters Mehwish, Sehrish, and Mahnoor Ali reached the semi-finals of the Australian Junior Open.

Top seed Mehwish aims to defend her U-17 title, winning her quarter-final against Hong Kong’s Maeghan Wang in straight games (11-6, 11-3, 11-2). In the U-15 category, second seed Sehrish defeated Chelsea Paule (11-2, 11-3, 11-1) and will face Olivia van Zon in the semis. She is the top-ranked U-15 player in Pakistan.

Mahnoor, also unbeaten, advanced by overpowering New Zealand’s Meriam Ibrahim (11-1, 11-0, 11-3) and will challenge Elizabeth Wang next. Currently, Mahnoor is ranked No. 1 in Pakistan, with Mehwish at No. 5 and Sehrish at No. 14.

In contrast, Nouman Khan lost to Elijah Rolls in the Round of 16 without scoring a point.
