Skardu airport set for transformation as upgrade project begins

Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has officially launched the upgrade project for the transformation of Skardu airport.

The project launch meeting was held at a local resort in Skardu, Pakistan. Representatives from the Swiss company Interplane, along with local partners, presented their strategy for the project. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), including the Director of Planning and Development, the Additional Director of Project Monitoring, the Project Director, the Airport Manager, and others.

Local government officials, military representatives, and other stakeholders were also present at the meeting. The cost for the design consultancy of the upgradation is estimated at Rs 180 million. Once the design and PC-1 are completed, formal construction of the upgradation project is expected to commence within a year.

All stakeholders expressed their commitment to cooperate fully for the timely completion of the project. Participants pledged to transform Skardu into a hub for international tourism. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to develop the regional economy through enhanced air connectivity.

With these upgrades, Skardu International Airport is set to become a new gateway for tourism and trade.
