Smart card launched in Abbottabad for vehicle registration

The Abbottabad Excise and Taxation Office has introduced a new smart card system for vehicle registration, modelled after the one used in Islamabad. ETO Ammar Khan officially issued the first smart card at the Excise Office in Abbottabad. According to the Excise Department, this new system replaces traditional paper cards with smart cards that feature modern security enhancements and digital information.

During the announcement, ETO Ammar Khan stated that starting today, all new vehicles will receive a smart card with a universal number for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, eliminating the need for registration books. Additionally, this service will also be extended to existing vehicle owners in their respective districts. Citizens have welcomed this initiative, recognising it as a timely and necessary improvement.
