DI KHAN: At a grand Jirga held at Chehkan Fort, local elders from South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) emphasised the importance of prioritising the national cause over personal interests, stating that national unity is essential for the country’s prosperity.

The Jirga was led by Major General Naiknam Muhammad Baig, the General Officer Commanding of the 40 Division (Al-Burq).

The gathering included a large number of prominent religious scholars, spiritual leaders, and tribal elders from Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, and Tank.

During his address, the GOC discussed the regional security situation in detail and highlighted the sacrifices made by law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and stability.

He stressed the necessity of promoting a united national narrative.

He urged the public, religious leaders, civil institutions, and armed forces to come together and work in harmony to confront the challenges the country faces. He called on religious leaders to positively guide the people and take a firm stand against extremism on an intellectual basis.

The GOC made it clear that no ideology, movement, or personal interest should be placed above national security and the collective progress of society.

The participating scholars and elders expressed their appreciation for the efforts of law enforcement agencies and pledged their full support. Various proposals were discussed during the session, and attendees committed to spreading the message of peace, unity, and harmony within their communities.

In conclusion, it was unanimously agreed that every possible effort would be made at the local level to eradicate extremism, restore trust in state institutions, and ensure sustainable peace in society. At the end of the event, the GOC presented copies of the Holy Quran to all participants as a goodwill gesture.
