Measles outbreak in North Waziristan’s Spin Wam tehsil leaves children at risk due to no vaccines

NORTH WAZIRISTAN: A measles outbreak has hit Shemiri village in Spin Wam tehsil, North Waziristan, claiming the life of a young girl. The victim, daughter of a local resident named Mansoor, died after suffering from the disease.

Villagers say that Spin Wam lacks basic health facilities, including measles vaccines, putting many children at risk. Malik Yousuf Haroon, a resident of Shemiri village, reported that several children in his family have measles. Additionally, three daughters of Kifayatullah and one daughter of Nasir Shah are also infected.

The community is urging the health department to send medical teams to control the outbreak and start mass vaccination to prevent further spread of the disease.
