State bank launches ‘go cashless’ campaign for Eid-ul-Adha

Interest rate cut likely as State Bank to announce monetary policy tomorrow

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has initiated a “Go Cashless” campaign to encourage digital payments in livestock markets during Eid-ul-Adha. The campaign, which runs until June 6 (Eid night), aims to reduce cash transactions and promote electronic payments for buying and selling sacrificial animals.

As part of the initiative, the SBP has temporarily increased transaction limits from May 19 to June 15, 2025, to facilitate smoother digital transactions. Daily limits have been removed for Branchless Banking Level-1 accounts, Asan Digital Accounts, and merchant accounts, while the monthly limit has been raised to Rs. 5 million.

The campaign will cover 54 designated livestock markets across Pakistan, making it easier for buyers and sellers to complete transactions digitally. The SBP hopes this move will enhance financial inclusion and reduce reliance on cash during the busy Eid season.
