Hope Alive as Rescuers Near Trapped Miners in Swat Emerald Mine

SWAT: In a successful late-night operation, Rescue 1122 Swat safely extracted four miners trapped inside a collapsed emerald mine in Malukabad. The victims—identified as Syed Ahmed Khan (32), Muhammad Sadiq (32), Taj Muhammad (37), and Saeed Ali Shah (23), all from Shangla—were given immediate first aid before being transported to a nearby hospital.

The seven-hour rescue mission, supervised by Director of Operations (North Region) Arshad Iqbal and District Emergency Officer Rafiullah Marwat, saw Marwat personally descend 880 feet into the mine to assist. Over 40 Rescue 1122 personnel from stations across Swat—including Babuzai, Khwaza Khela, Charbagh, Matta, Kabal, and Brikot—worked in coordination, using modern search cameras, specialized equipment, and medical support.

Local residents and the rescued miners praised the team’s timely and professional response. The operation marks another high-risk rescue success for Rescue 1122, known for its disaster response expertise in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
