At least 1,383 civilians, mostly Alawites, were killed in a recent wave of Syria’s violence on the Mediterranean coast, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The deaths, recorded in Latakia, Tartus, and Hama provinces, resulted from executions by security forces and allied groups.

The violence began last week after clashes between Assad loyalists and new security forces, leaving 231 security personnel and 250 pro-Assad fighters dead.
The UN documented sectarian-based summary executions, while interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa vowed to prosecute those responsible.
Seven suspects have been arrested for violations against civilians.
