Islamabad: Pakistan’s Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, issued a strong warning to India, stating that any violation of the Indus Waters Treaty or aggressive action would have disastrous consequences for the region. He emphasized that Pakistan would give a historic response to any misstep by India.
Speaking on private TV’s program, Chaudhry said that if India attempts to block Pakistan’s water supply, it would be treated as an attack on national security. He stated, “Even using a brick to stop water will be seen as equal to a missile attack.”
Chaudhry highlighted that the Indus Waters Treaty was brokered by the World Bank and cannot be canceled by one side alone. He criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of creating hostility against Pakistan to divert attention from his falling popularity, especially with elections approaching in two Indian states.
The minister expressed confidence in Pakistan’s armed forces, citing the downing of an Indian aircraft as proof of their strength. He said Pakistan does not seek war but will retaliate forcefully if attacked.

On Kashmir, Chaudhry called it Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and said India has failed to prove its stance in international forums. Regarding nuclear weapons, he stated they are for defense and their use would be decided by military and political leadership.
Chaudhry warned that any Indian mistake would lead to a historic Pakistani response, damaging regional economies. However, he stressed Pakistan desires peace while being fully capable of defending its sovereignty.
