DHAKA: Tamim Iqbal, former Bangladesh captain, underwent emergency angioplasty on Monday. He was rushed to the hospital after experiencing chest discomfort during a Dhaka Premier Division match.
Tamim led Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club at BKSP-3 in Savar. He fielded for one over but then left to see doctors at KPJ Specialised Hospital and Nursing Home.
Doctors advised him to stay, but he left and arranged an air ambulance. However, due to health complications, he could not travel. He returned to the same hospital, where tests confirmed a heart blockage.
Doctors performed an angioplasty to remove the blockage. They later confirmed that Tamim had suffered a heart attack. The procedure went smoothly, and he is now under observation.
