CHARSADDA : The local administration launched a major crackdown on illegal encroachments in Sherpao Bazaar on Tuesday. The operation, led by the Assistant Commissioner, DSP Tangi, and municipal officials, targeted shops, hotels, and other structures built illegally on government land, including graveyards, canal banks, and market areas.
Authorities said they had issued prior warnings to remove the illegal constructions, but when no action was taken, the structures were demolished. Some shopkeepers protested, claiming the move hurt their businesses, but officials insisted that encroachments would not be allowed.
The administration warned that stricter action will follow if anyone tries to occupy government land again. The Deputy Commissioner has ordered a zero-tolerance policy against encroachments.
