PESHAWAR: The death toll due to recent heavy rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reached 332. According to the latest report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the natural disasters have not only caused the loss of precious human lives but also damaged hundreds of houses and infrastructure.
The report states that as per the pre-21 people have also been injured due to the floods, while 68 houses have been damaged, of which 61 have faced partial damage and seven have faced destruction.
According to the PDMA, the highest loss of life occurred in Buner district, where 213 people lost their lives. The details of the deaths in other affected districts are as follows: Shangla: 35 deaths, 8 injured; Mansehra: 23 deaths, 2 injured; Bajaur: 21 deaths, 8 injured; Swat: 20 deaths; Battagram: 15 deaths; Lower Dir: 5 deaths, 3 injured
According to the PDMA report, the districts most affected by the floods and rains include: Buner with 213 figures without missing persons, Swat, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla, and Battagram.
Rescue agencies and district administrations are busy with relief activities, while the government has assured to continue rehabilitation measures in the affected areas. Some of the missing persons in Buner are still under the recovery process as a dead body recovered in Daggar area.
Some of the dead bodies are lying in Daggar hospital where people are searching their loved after the calamity. The exact number of the missing persons is not confirmed and reports are pouring in regarding the appearance of more dead bodies from the flood affected areas.
