The only crematorium of the Sikh community in Buner also washed away in the flood

BUNER: As a result of the cloudburst-induced flood in Buner district, not only the local population severely affected, but the only crematorium of the Sikh community was also washed away in the flood.

Due to the terrible flood, the walls and other equipment of the crematorium were washed away, causing severe damage to the community.

The employee who was supervising and maintaining the crematorium said that he had been serving here for the last five years. He said that the flood had also severely affected his house, and all the equipment was washed away.

He said that during the flood, his son climbed a tree while the women in the house were taken to a safe place by jumping over the wall.

He further said that the flood level was low, but later the water level rose, and about fifteen feet of high water came, causing severe damage to the historic building.

They have appealed to the higher authorities for immediate assistance and cooperation because they have been plunged into debt due to the floods, and their plight is very poor.

The devastating flood had also swept away various Eid Gahs in the village of Daggar, Bagra and Gookand, while several mosques were also damaged, built on the river side.

The Sikh community have appealed to the government to grant funds for the reconstruction of their only crematorium in Pirbaba.
