A theft occurred in the office of the Director General of Parks at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, during which unknown burglars stole valuable items, including five rare World War II shields.
According to the Deputy Director of Parks South Zone, Zohaib Gul, the incident took place during the Muharram holidays at the DG Parks main office located in KMC Frere Hall. The thieves gained entry by breaking the rear window of the office and took away the five World War II shields, along with other items such as pipes and a DVD player.
The DG Parks office was closed on July 4 in observance of Muharram and reopened on July 7, when the broken window was discovered. A theft report has been filed at the Artillery Maidan police station by Zohaib Gul, the DG Parks officer. This incident has raised concerns regarding the security of the KMC office.
In response to the theft, the Mayor of Karachi has taken notice and requested an immediate report from higher authorities. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Anwar of Artillery Maidan Police Station stated that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
