KHYBER: The Jamaat-i-Islami, (JI) Khyber, district emir Shah Faisal Afridi has said that war is not the solution to any problem, the ongoing tension on the Torkham border is affecting the tribes living on both sides of the border.
He suggested that the tribal “Loya Jirga” be mobilized to resolve the issues with Afghanistan and is ready for negotiations in the form of a Jirga.
While addressing a news conference at the District Press Club Khyber, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, district emir, Jamaat-e-Islami Landi Kotal Murad Hussain Afridi, General Secretary Sultan Akbar Afridi, Member Shah and Rafiq Afridi expressed concern over the current situation on the Torkham border.
Shah Faisal Afridi said that due to the tension, the residents of Bacha Mina have been displaced, while the attacks by Afghan forces have damaged several houses and injured several people, which is very sad. He said that it is not a good omen to be at the border against each other, because there are forces of brotherly Islamic countries on both sides, who will have to show patience and brotherhood.
He further said that the silence of the provincial and federal governments in this critical situation shows their failure. The government should immediately try to end the tension through negotiations so that the Torkham border can be opened and normal life can be restored.
Shah Faisal Afridi announced that Al-Khidmat Foundation is fully prepared for voluntary activities in this situation and all possible steps will be taken to help the affected people.
