BUNER: The recent devastating flood in Buner and other parts of the country has damaged a total of 580 schools, which include 26 schools in the district of Buner only, while the rest of the schools were partially damaged in scattered parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking to Pakhtun Digital provincial minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Faisal Taraki, said that the cloud burst-induced flood has affected 580 schools. Two schools have completely destroyed, while 26 have been partially destroyed.
He said that work will start soon on the rehabilitation of the partially destroyed schools, while the children of these schools will be accommodated in a private building. He said that the education process in these schools would not be affected, and work will start on these schools soon.
The flood has also damaged several girls’ primary schools and some private schools in the district. Huge funds would be needed for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of these schools, as the construction material would be difficult to reach due to damage to roads in the mountainous areas of Buner.
