MANSEHRA: The unfortunate family of Mansehra suffered major losses when 18 members of the same family were swept away in flash floods and a cloud burst in Mansehra.
The members of the unfortunate family who were swept away in the flash flood at Dheri Haleem village in Balimang, Village Council of UC Hilkot, confirmed by relatives include Jahanzeb son of Ayub, Irshad son of Ayub, Nawab Jan wife of Yousuf, Mehr al-Nisa wife of Janas, Saira wife of Zahid, Iftikhar Ahmed son of Janas, Fatima wife of Wasim, Waseem son of unknown, Sameena wife of Irshad, Uzma daughter of Janas, Halima daughter of Janas, Sohail son of Jahanzeb, Anis son of Jahanzeb, Abdullah son of Irshad Ayan son of Irshad, Sufyan son of Irshad, Zeeshan son of Janas, Khadija daughter of Imran, Hafsa, daughter of Janas, Noreen wife of Jahanzeb.
Ayub, the surviving elder of the family, said that he tried his best to save his wife and children, but the water engulfed them on all sides, and it was difficult to reach anyone due to the high pressure of stones and floodwater. He said that his relatives and six of his children were also taken away by the flood, which is the end of the entire world for him.
He appealed government to support him in reconstructing his house as the area was badly affected due to flood water and cloud burst incidents. The locals rushed to his house and expressed sympathy with him in these hours of grief.
It may be recalled here that the Friday rain has caused a devastating impact on the people of Buner, Shangla and Bajuar, while some incidents have also been reported in Mansehra and Shangla as a result of heavy rain and cloud burst incidents.
