Tribal elder killed and his driver injured in North Waziristan

PESHAWAR: A tribal elder was gunned down while his driver was injured when armed persons opened fire on him in Miranshah sub-division, North Waziristan on Monday.

Local sources said that the incident occurred near Tapai village, Bannu-Miranshah road, when miscreant attacked Malik Muhammad Rehman Dawar and his driver inside their car. He was coming to the district headquarters for some personal work and, when he reached the petrol pump to fill fuel in his car in the meantime armed persons attacked him.

As a result of the firing, Malik Muhammad Rahman was killed, and his driver was injured who was later shifted to DHQ North Waziristan. Doctors have declared that the condition of the injured persons is stable.

The incident caused fear and panic among the residents as the repeated target killings and bomb blasts have created a tense atmosphere in the area, where prominent tribal elders are not safe to attend any peace Jirga or conference.

Police launched a search operation in the area and registered an FIR against unknown persons.
