WANA: Sadiq Khan a resident of Azam Warsak was seriously injured when unknown persons opened firing in main market of Wana in Lower South Waziristan district on Saturday.
According to police sources, Sadiq has been immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Wana in an injured condition, where he is being given medical assistance. Police said that the reasons for the firing are not confirmed however, the investigation into the incident is underway and evidence is being collected from the scene.
After the firing incident in Wana Bazaar, the shopkeepers and citizens of the market expressed serious concern over the poor performance of the police regarding security, saying that due to the continuous absence of the police in Wana Bazaar, criminal elements have been given free rein, and the lives and property of the people are not safe.
They said that the recent incident also took place during the absence of the police, saying that instead of providing security duty in public places, the police have been confined to police stations, due to which there is a severe lack of security in markets and places of public gatherings.
