Trump pushes for immediate end to Gaza conflict: White House

WASHINGTON: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump is actively working to bring an end to the ongoing war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages held by Hamas.

During recent press briefings held separately by the White House and the State Department, officials highlighted the administration’s current initiatives, including efforts to resolve the Gaza crisis, advance tax reform, and strengthen national security.

Leavitt credited President Trump’s diplomatic efforts for the successful delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza. “We are making every effort to end the conflict and secure the release of all hostages. The aid that has reached Gaza is a direct result of President Trump’s leadership,” she said.

She confirmed that the administration is in regular communication with Israeli officials to coordinate peace initiatives and humanitarian support. “President Trump is seeking a rapid and peaceful resolution to the conflict. He remains personally engaged in the process,” Leavitt added.

Leavitt also took aim at New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, labeling him a “communist” and accusing him of backing Hamas. “If he is elected, it would severely hinder collaboration due to his views,” she warned.

In addition, she criticized Democratic lawmakers for opposing the administration’s proposed tax reforms and anti-corruption strategies. “President Trump is leading a transformative agenda that focuses on tax reductions and securing the borders. Democrats have consistently resisted these efforts to root out corruption,” she remarked.

Leavitt also mentioned ongoing discussions with Congress over a new tax reduction bill aimed at boosting the economy and providing financial relief.

At the State Department, spokesperson Tammy Bruce echoed the administration’s focus on resolving the Gaza conflict. She emphasized America’s commitment to achieving a ceasefire and responding to the humanitarian needs on the ground. “We are working diligently to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza and push for a long-term ceasefire,” Bruce said.

She also defended the recent cancellation of visas for some British performers, citing national security as the primary reason. “Visa decisions are made in the interest of national security. Every country has the responsibility to protect its citizens,” she said, adding that all visitors must respect American values.

Bruce further pointed to the administration’s tough stance on Iran as evidence of continued U.S. influence in the region. “Our firm approach toward Iran reflects the United States’ enduring role as a major regional power,” she said.

Regarding Syria, Bruce confirmed that the U.S. is gradually lifting sanctions, indicating a potential shift in policy. “Sanctions are being lifted in stages. We hold Hamas accountable for the current situation in Gaza and are fully committed to securing a ceasefire,” she noted.

She also praised Senator Marco Rubio for his efforts to support global peace initiatives, stating that he is acting on President Trump’s behalf.
