Trump-Putin talks end with no Ukraine ceasefire agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their first historic meeting in Alaska, lasting approximately three hours.

International sources and Russian media reported the atmosphere was pleasant and constructive, with both leaders seen smiling and showing goodwill throughout. Despite the positive tone, the two sides did not reach a final agreement on establishing a ceasefire in Ukraine.

President Putin stated, “Russia is deeply interested in ending this war,” and announced plans for a follow-up meeting soon in Moscow to continue advancing discussions.

President Trump described the talks as “very constructive,” adding, “we had tough but positive talks with Putin and we agreed on many points.” The Russian special envoy also characterized the meeting as “extraordinarily good.”
