Trump vows to help Pakistan and India find solution to ‘concerning’ Kashmir dispute

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to work with Pakistan and India to help find a solution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute, a day after the United States played a mediating role in securing a ceasefire between the two South Asian nations.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, President Trump praised the leadership of both countries, calling their decision to halt hostilities a wise and courageous step.

“I am very proud of the strong and unwavering leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to recognise that it was time to end the current aggression—an escalation that could have led to immense death and destruction,” he said.

Kashmir dispute

Trump added: “I will work with both nations to see if, after a ‘thousand years,’ a solution can finally be reached on the Kashmir issue. God bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!”

He went on to highlight the potential human cost of continued conflict, noting, “Millions of good and innocent people could have died. Your brave actions have greatly enhanced your legacies. I am proud that the United States was able to assist in achieving this historic and heroic decision.”

The U.S. president also announced his intention to “substantially” expand trade with both Pakistan and India, describing them as “great nations.
