BANNU: Two people, including a relative of the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were injured when unknown armed men opened fire on a vehicle in Bannu district last late night.
As per media reports, armed men blocked the road and set up a check post at Nala Kashu Bridge Link Road. They signalled a vehicle to stop approaching the checkpoint.
But instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee the spot. When the vehicle did not stop, the miscreants opened fire leaving two people injured.
Police said that one of the injured was identified as a Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) officer. A relative of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary was also among the wounded.
The injured were shifted to Khalifa Gulnawaz Hospital for treatment. Police have started an investigation.
