SWAT: Two individuals were shot dead on Tuesday in an incident described as an “honour killing” in the Barikot tehsil of Swat district, according to police reports.
The incident took place in the Najigram area, where a young man from Maniyar entered a house. The head of the household noticed him and opened fire, killing the young man instantly. During the shooting, the homeowner’s brother was also critically injured and later died at the hospital.
Police have filed a case and launched an investigation into the matter. According to residents, the deceased was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with a woman from the household.
Honour killings have been reported in various regions of Pakistan and have consistently been condemned by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
