KHANPUR: A high-level delegation from the US Embassy visited the ancient Julian Stupa in Khanpur on Saturday, lauding Pakistan’s efforts to safeguard its cultural heritage.
Welcomed by Regional Archaeology Officer Syed Niaz Hussain Shah, the delegation closely inspected the 2,000-year-old Buddhist site, calling it an “invaluable cultural treasure” and praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archaeology Department for its preservation work.
They noted that such conservation efforts not only protect religious landmarks but also enhance religious tourism, promote interfaith harmony, and support the local economy. The delegation also explored possibilities for cultural cooperation with the provincial government before departing for Islamabad.
