WANA:The business community in South Waziristan has called for a complete shutter-down strike and sit-in starting June 30 to protest the prolonged closure of the Angor Adda Gate on the Pak-Afghan border.
Trade unions, chambers of commerce, transport associations, and fruit exporters have expressed frustration over the border remaining shut for 23 months, severely impacting local businesses. They have warned of blocking all entry and exit routes in Wana if the government fails to reopen the crossing immediately, similar to Torkham, Kharlachi, and Chaman borders.
During the protest, only the movement of vegetables, fruits, and patients will be allowed, while all other trade and official activities will remain suspended. Saifur Rehman Wazir, President of the Chamber of Commerce, stated that despite repeated government assurances, the border remains closed, forcing them to take protest action.
The business community has set a deadline for authorities to act, threatening further disruptions if their demands are not met.
