Wanted terrorist among nine killed in Dera Ismail Khan operation: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: At least nine terrorists, including a wanted commander, were killed in an intelligence-based operation carried out by the security forces in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a military statement said on Monday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted in Takura area of Dera Ismail at midnight on April 6 and 7.

During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged their location and after an intense fire exchange, nine terrorists including ring leader Shireen were killed.

Khwarij Shireen was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies due to his involvement in numerous terrorist activities including in the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar on 20 March 2025, it added.

“Today’s operation has avenged the heinous act and has brought the main perpetrator to justice,” ISPR said.

The security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the possession of killed militants, read the statement.

It added that a sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.
