Washington could not force anyone to de-escalate tension: US Vice President

WASHINGTON: United States Vice President JD Vance, said that Washington could not force any one to de-escalate tension however encouraging India and Pakistan to work for peace and stability of the region.

“What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit, but we’re not going to get involved in the middle of a war that’s fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it,” said Vance, who has been a proponent of US disengagement from international conflicts, in an interview with Fox News.

“Our hope and our expectation is that this is not going to spiral into a broader regional war or, God forbid, a nuclear conflict,” Vance continued. “Right now, we don’t think that’s going to happen.”It is to mentioed here that PM Shehbaz received a call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday evening. During the conversation, Secretary Rubio noted that the United States was closely monitoring the situation in South Asia and reiterated Washington’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. Rubio urged both Pakistan and India to work together to de-escalate the situation, the statement said. “Both sides agreed to remain in contact,” the statement added.
