The water level in the Sutlej and Sindh rivers is continuously rising, due to which several areas are facing a flood situation. Crops standing in Kahropakka have been submerged, while there is also a low-level flood at Kotri Barrage.
The administration has imposed Section 144 in view of the flood situation, while rescue and all related agencies have been put on high alert. In Sindh, the inflow of water into the Indus River has also accelerated.
The inflow of water at Kotri Barrage was recorded at 207,235 cusecs. The downstream release is 193,680 cusecs. According to the control room in charge, there is a low-level flood situation at Kotri Barrage, but all matters are under control.
Low-lying areas and villages near the river are likely to be affected due to flood risks. According to agricultural experts, there is a possibility of widespread damage to crops. The administration has warned citizens to avoid going near the river and to contact rescue agencies immediately in case of emergency.
