NEW DELHI: India has declined to participate in the semi-final match of the 2025 World Championship of Legends (WCL) against Pakistan, scheduled to take place in Birmingham tomorrow.
Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan reiterated the team’s decision to boycott the fixture. If India officially pulls out, Pakistan will qualify directly for the tournament’s final.
The championship, currently underway in England, saw India secure a semi-final spot after defeating the West Indies. Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia had already advanced to the knockout stage, completing the semi-final lineup with India’s victory.
The second semi-final, featuring South Africa and Australia, is also set to be played tomorrow.
Earlier in the tournament, Indian players including Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh had expressed their unwillingness to play against Pakistan, leading to the cancellation of their league-stage encounter.
