TRINIDAD: Persistent rain disrupted play in the second ODI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, on Sunday, leaving West Indies a revised target of 181 runs in 35 overs after Pakistan’s innings was cut short.

The match, part of the three-game series, was initially reduced to 37 overs per side due to rain, with the target adjusted based on Pakistan’s run rate.

Batting first, Pakistan made a steady start as openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique shared a 37-run stand. However, the breakthrough came in the ninth over when Ayub fell for 23 off 31 balls. Soon after, skipper Babar Azam was bowled for a three-ball duck by Jayden Seales.

Abdullah Shafique and captain Mohammad Rizwan attempted to stabilize the innings, adding 27 runs before Shafique departed for 26. Rizwan struggled to accelerate, scoring 16 off 38 balls before being trapped LBW by Gudakesh Motie.

Hussain Talat provided some momentum with 31 off 32 balls, but Pakistan’s middle order faltered as Salman Ali Agha (9), Mohammad Nawaz (5), and others fell cheaply.

Hasan Nawaz top-scored with an unbeaten 36 off 30 deliveries, hitting three sixes, while Shaheen Afridi contributed an unbeaten 11. Pakistan closed at 171-7 in 36.2 overs when rain forced an early end.

For the hosts, Jayden Seales shone with figures of 3/23 in seven overs, while Jediah Blades, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Roston Chase claimed one wicket each.
