RAWALPINDI: The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League is set to commence tomorrow (April 11) with an exciting clash between defending champions Islamabad United and former revenge seeker Lahore Qalandar.
Islamabad United will seek a nostalgic repeat of the inaugural match of the last season that set the stage for them to beat the 2023 defending champions Multan Sultans in the final.
While the Lahore Qalandars will try to take their revenge and repeat the 2023 opening that opened their roads to win the PSL title for the second time.
However, the much-anticipated start to PSL 2025 faces a potential hurdle due to the weather forecast for that day in Rawalpindi. Rain showers are predicted, which could dampen the spirits of what is expected to be a packed crowd at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Weather forecast for Rawalpindi
The National Weather Forecasting Centre at the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) predicted that partly cloudy weather with isolated rain-windstorm/thunderstorms is expected in, upper/central Punjab, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad in the afternoon. Partly cloudy weather with rain-windstorm/thunderstorm is likely at isolated places during the afternoon, read the statement. Hailstorms may also occur at isolated places during the forecast period in various parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, it added.
If rain hits Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars match
The first match of the PSL will start at 8:30pm. Unlike the playoffs and the final, there are no reserve days for group-stage matches, including the opener. The match, however, can be extended by up to 60 minutes beyond the scheduled finish time. Moreover, a minimum of five overs per side is required to produce a result.
