WhatsApp group admin shot dead in Peshawar

Abbottabad yoth killed by watchman

PESHAWAR: A Pakistani man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting the administrator of a community WhatsApp group who had removed him from the chat, police reports on Saturday.

Mushtaq Ahmed was fatally shot on Thursday evening in Peshawar.

A man identified only as Ashfaq has been charged with the murder, according to police documents reviewed by AFP and a local police official.

Mushtaq allegedly removed Ashfaq from the WhatsApp group after a disagreement, as stated by Mushtaq’s brother in a statement seen by AFP.

The brother claimed that the two had arranged to meet and resolve their differences, but Ashfaq arrived with a gun and opened fire, killing Mushtaq.

Ashfaq’s anger was reportedly triggered by his removal from the WhatsApp group.

The prevalence of such incidents is influenced by factors like the availability of firearms, tribal customs, and sometimes inadequate law enforcement.
