WhatsApp introduces new feature to protect users
In another effort to ensure user safety in the world of technology, WhatsApp has introduced a new security feature called “Safety Overview” for group chats.

The aim of this feature is to provide users with full awareness before joining suspicious or unwanted groups, especially when they are added to the group by people who are not in their contact list.
Under the new feature, if a stranger adds you to a group, WhatsApp will show you important details about the group, including the name of the group creator, the date the group was created, the total number of members, and the identity of the person who added you.
This information will help the user decide whether the group is safe or not and whether he should stay in it or leave it immediately.
Meanwhile, until the user decides to stay in the group, all group notifications will be automatically muted to avoid any unnecessary interference.
A statement issued by Meta said that “Safety Overview” will only be activated when an unsafe contact (i.e. a stranger) adds a user to a group.

This initiative is part of WhatsApp’s policies aimed at protecting users from fraud, spam and other online threats.
In addition, WhatsApp has banned more than 680,000 accounts during recent operations that were linked to various scam centres or suspicious activities.
This new feature will not only provide information security to users but will also help reduce the growing security concerns on WhatsApp.
