KHYBER: A woman died in a house collapse on Wednesday as heavy rain lashed large parts of the Khyber district.

According to rescue 1122, in the Lwara Maina area of Mullagori tehsil of Khyber, the roof of a mud house gave way following heavy rainfall.

As a result, a woman was buried alive under the debris. Rescue 1122 reached the spot, conducted rescue efforts, and rescued the woman.

She was taken to the local hospital. But the doctor declared her brought dead.

As per reports, she was a religious teacher and was also running a madrasa in her home.

Heavy rain and snowfall lashed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the last two days and caused waterlogging in low-lying areas, disrupting daily life with main city roads witnessing very slow traffic movement.

Yesterday,at least two children died after the roof collapsed due to rain in Karak, while a mother and son were injured.

According to rescue sources, the incident took place in the New Colony of Karak Terry City, where the roof of a room in the house of Afghan refugee Akhtar Zaman suddenly collapsed after the rain.

The deceased children include Muhammadullah, aged 7, and Iqra, aged four and a half.

On the other hand, the roof of a house suddenly collapsed during heavy rain near the City Hospital on Kohat Road. Three people were injured in the incident.
