"Rescue Efforts Underway After Woman Drowns in Kalpani Mardan

MARDAN: A woman drowned after jumping into the water near Kalpani Mohmand Pump in Mardan on Friday.

Despite relentless efforts by Rescue 1122 and local citizens, her body has yet to be recovered due to challenging conditions, including strong water flow and darkness.

Rescue 1122 received a report of the incident and immediately dispatched a diving team to the location.

District Emergency Officer Syed Shoaib Mansoor and Mardan Mayor Himayatullah Mayar were also present at the scene, overseeing the operation.

The rescue team, along with local volunteers, conducted an extensive search throughout the night. However, the operation was temporarily halted due to poor visibility caused by darkness. Efforts are set to resume at dawn.

Officials highlighted the difficulties faced during the operation, including the strong current of the water. “Despite the challenges, our team is committed to finding the missing woman,” said District Emergency Officer Syed Shoaib Mansoor.

The identity of the woman and the circumstances leading to her jumping into the water remain unclear. Authorities are investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Local residents praised the efforts of Rescue 1122 and expressed hope that the woman would be found soon. “It’s a tragic situation, but we appreciate the hard work of the rescuers,” said a witness at the scene. The search operation will continue in the morning, with additional resources deployed to assist in the recovery efforts.
