RANIPUR: A 20-year-old woman, Muqaddas, from Ranipur, Khairpur district, has tragically passed away after donating part of her liver to save her father.
She underwent a liver transplant at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) but did not survive the procedure.
Her family has accused doctors of negligence, alleging that despite her deteriorating condition, they were repeatedly reassured of her recovery. However, at 2 AM, they were informed of her passing and asked to collect her body.
Muqaddas was laid to rest in Shujaabad, while her father, already in poor health, has suffered further complications upon learning of her death.
GIMS Hospital Director Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Bhatti stated that he was unaware of the incident but would launch an investigation. He also noted that such complications occur in one out of 200 transplant cases.
