PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has removed 37 invigilators, and cases have been lodged against 14 others over fake duty appointments and other complaints here on Monday.
A statement issued here said that strict measures were being taken to prevent irregularities and plagiarism in the ongoing matriculation examinations under the Peshawar Education Board.
It said during the 11-day examinations, 37 people were removed from examination duty and blacklisted, while 14 cases were also registered on fake duty appointments and other complaints.
These examinations are being held in 713 centres in Peshawar, Charsadda, Chitral Upper, Chitral Lower, tribal districts Mohmand and Khyber district, where about two lakh students are appearing for the examination.
The statement mentioned that under the supervision of the Commissioner Peshawar Division and Chairman Education Board Riaz Khan Mehsod, various steps have been taken to ensure transparency and prevent plagiarism during the examinations. A total of 46 papers of classes IX and X were taken in the examinations.
In the actions so far, disciplinary action has been taken against 54 government officials on complaints, while 37 blacklisted persons have been deprived of examination duty for life. These persons will not be given stipends, and the case has been sent to the Elementary and Secondary Education Department for departmental action against them.
It has been recommended to terminate the affiliation of two private schools with the board, which were found to be involved in cheating on the examinations. Moreover, FIRS have been registered against 14 persons for making fake appointment letters, and they are currently in jail, of which 4 were immediately arrested based on fake documents. Cases have also been registered against 4 private school staff for similar violations.
The Chairman Board has announced that more stringent steps will be taken to ensure transparency in the examinations, which will continue till April 29. Strict instructions have been issued to officers in all districts, while he will also make surprise visits to various examination centres.
Seven schools have been awarded prizes for their good performance, while nine examination staff members have been given cash prizes and certificates of appreciation by the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which have also been publicised in the media.
